VolunTeens
VolunTeens is a vibrant and dynamic service organization for students in grades 7 through 12, committed to making a meaningful impact in their communities. This energized group of extraordinary young volunteers works tirelessly to support individuals and families facing hardship, offering kindness, joy, and hope where it’s needed most.
Guided by dedicated adult sponsors, VolunTeens engage in hands-on philanthropic work that not only transforms lives but also fosters personal growth. Through service and relationship-building, participants cultivate a strong sense of community responsibility, develop poise and leadership skills, and learn the values of self-reliance and personal accountability.
VolunTeens is more than just a volunteer program—it’s a movement of compassion, leadership, and youthful energy dedicated to bringing light to those for whom celebrations are rare.
Through their efforts, VolunTeens are truly making a positive impact on their community, one act of kindness at a time.
VolunTeens Activities

Celebration Bags
Our teens assemble a party in a bag for the children at New House and Synergy House domestic violence shelters. Each bag contains everything to create a party for a child: cake mix and frosting, paper products, and an age-appropriate gift.

Meals for the Homeless
Our teens work together to feed the homeless in our community. These dedicated young people provided hundreds of sack lunches to the Uplift Organization to distribute to those experiencing homelessness in the Kansas City area. In addition to the sack lunches, our teens also prepared hundreds of hot meals last year. They further supported the Feed Northland Kids Project by assembling several hundred more sack lunches for children in need.

Halloween Trunk or Treat
Our teens are committed to providing a fun and safe Halloween experience for children in our community who often miss out on such things. Last Halloween our teens decorated cars, organized games, and provided delicious treats for children at the Synergy Children’s Shelter and the Synergy domestic violence shelter.

For Teens by Teens
Often youth who are living without parental guidance and support can use a hand up. We work with high school social workers to provide them with a duffle bag packed with some basic clothing items and personal hygiene supplies. Our teens assemble the duffle bags and write a personal note of encouragement to include as well. Our goal is to give kids a bit of hope, to let them know there’s someone out there who cares about them, even when they’re enduring a difficult time in their lives.
