Boost Bears

Boost Bears offers new bears, named “Buddy,” to provide comfort and reassurance to individuals in crisis. Members of Boost KC distribute these bears to various local facilities, offering solace to children in distress. Sometimes, the Buddy bears are given to individuals who simply need a boost of courage to navigate through difficult situations.

Kansas City area hospital emergency rooms, including Children’s Mercy Hospital, Liberty, North Kansas City, St. Luke’s North, and University Health, rely on the Buddy bears to comfort young patients. The transport teams at Children’s Mercy Hospital also use the bears to provide companionship and ease the anxiety of children during their transport. The Ronald McDonald House uses the bears to offer extra courage to families staying in their facilities, while area surgical centers and optometry offices provide the comforting bears to children, offering them a warm, fuzzy hug during their visits.

Boost Bears are more than just a gift—they are a source of comfort and emotional support, making a big difference in the lives of children and families during challenging times.

Milestone

Boost Bears serve such a unique purpose!

Since the program’s inception in November 1988, children throughout the community have received a teddy bear to help them feel loved and supported. Boost Bears serve a truly unique and valuable purpose—they provide tangible comfort and something to hold onto when the challenges of life feel overwhelming and out of control.
